The incessant need for everyone to voice their opinion is kind of getting to me. It isn't even the status updates that bug me. Social voyeurism? Totally on board. It's the comments that are killing me. And it isn't all comments. I love the "nice pic" and "hilarious story!" comments. It's the constant one-upping and assumption that anyone cares about your somewhat related story thing that I'm tiring of.
Example:
"Johnny just lost his first tooth and ate it!"
Appropriate comments:
"So cute!"
"Love it :)"
"Is the Tooth Fairy still going to make good on her word?"
Inappropriate (and growing ever more frequent) comments:
"Billy lost 10 teeth in one day. a year ago."
"Bobby took his first step!"
"Suzie and I went for a coffee and she played all day in the pool!"
I'd like to request that people just let other people (their so called "friends") have their moment - don't hijack them. Make your own damn status update.
I mean...
Really?

Airport lounge marriage proposals...
Who says romance is dead? I was just proposed to by a charming young man from Ghana who proclaimed he would like to marry me because I am white and because I am from America. He "likes America too much. too much." I respectfully declined, despite his blatant patriotism - the whole pro USA thing is usually a big plus for me. It became clear quickly that, regardless of which side of 35 I was straddling these days, marrying a foreign stranger was still no where near an option. I mean... seriously? He fully recognized the need to get to know each other. He would like to have a long courtship via email and then have me come visit in the Winter. Um. No. I've got a busy winter. Let's all hope I don't kick myself for letting that one go.

I mean...
There are some things that just need to be called out. I hope to draw attention to a few of them here.
